*I'm Just A Girl...*
Howdy! My name is Sarah Acuña. I'm one of those BIG BAD JUNIORS at H.M. King High School. I like to play volleyball and run track. I am a varsity cheerleader. I've been cheering for 4 yrs now. I was a competitive gymnast for about 5½ years and a dancer for about three. I'm active in the National Hispanic Institute, National Youth Leadership Forum's Alumni Leadership Council, and Presidential Classroom Scholars. I've been recognized by Who's Who Among American High School Students the past two yrs in a row. I'm a USAA All-American Scholar and Cheerleader. I've been an NCA All-American Cheerleader for the past four years...yeah, I do a lot of things and meet people from all over (that's the best part).
Some of my good friends are Vanessa Martinez, Malorie Martinez, Nicki Contreras, Erika Irizarry, Gabriel Obregon, Mark Rodriguez, Gerad Merritt, Victor Leyva & Rusty Whitaker. I miss you Joe...You're in my heart. I love you guys!
I love music, you know that I'm always singing something & that I can turn any phrase into a song. I love all types of music...My favorite is spanish pop & punk rock. I love anything from Thalia to NFG.
At this point in time I am debating going to pharmacy school at University of Houston or law school at The George Washington University.
I went to the NHI Texas Ambassadors 2001 with Malorie & we made it to the finals! HEY Coastal Bend NHIers. I also went to Washington, DC for LAW, not Medicine. I was nominated for both programs this year and last year, but Law was the way to go. Maybe medicine next year. Anyway, it was so much fun. I didn't want to leave. I truly learned so much. It really made me think about life in the legal field. I miss my "Holmies" (the Holmes group...even Steve). Um...Mal & me also went to Chicago this summer for the 2002 National Lorenzo De Zavala Youth Legislative Session. We had our belief or "bill" passed through "congress," so I guess we did well there. I just wanna say hi to Jessica, Missy, & Marisa (my suitemates) and David, Robby, Aaron, Erika & Eddie! I miss you guys. My next trip this year will be to Washington, DC again for the Presidential Classroom Scholars "Law & Justice in a Democracy Program." After that, I'm traveling to Mexico for NHI's Collegiate Wold Series. I can't wait... I'm gonna try for the NYLF Medicine forum. I'm gonna send in my scholarship application...if I get it, then I'm going. If any of you guys are interested in these programs as students, junior counselors, or project administrators, please e-mail your questions and I'll fill you in. These programs will change your life forever. They help you realize your full potential. I'll help you get started if you want a shot at it. Just call on me.
Umm...I'm not sure what else to say so if you have any questions or just wanna talk, send me mail...
XOXO ~Sarah Lou~
